DISPATCHED

journalist deaths

It is sobering to review the number of journalists being killed in Iraq in comparison to other conflicts.

Summer Jam

Sunday afternoon at the Black Sheep is a place where local musicians gather for a lively session of celtic music.

Professor William Greene is among the large group of musicians who play celtic music at the pub every Sunday. For me, listening to live celtic music, or any music for that matter, is always a treat. What I enjoy most about watching and photographing musicians is that they appear so consumed and lost in what they love to do -- play music.

In many ways, this has always been the same sort of feeling I have when I am making images. It is easy to lose track of time when you have trained yourself over the years to focus on detail and light. The slightest gesture, action, change in light can make such a huge difference.  These pictures  were made in color, but transforming them into black & white provides more of the feeling and tone of what I was feeling when I made them.
