I came across the Interactive Narratives site which features web-based storytelling. Andrew DeVigal, a professor at San Francisco State University, is the founder and one of the site's designers. This site makes a significant contribution to the web in terms of quality and depth. The content available on Interactive Narratives is rich and well organized. The problem is that you could spend hours looking at all the stories and never get your work done.
Another terrific place to get lost looking at some incredible photojournalism is David Snider's Photography Channel site. Currently, Washington Post photojournalist Carol Guzy's documentary "Saved from the Streets" is up and well worth the 4:39 minutes to explore. The greatest thing about Snider's site is how cleanly designed it is.
