I had another chance to contribute to the Digital Journalist magazine this week. The current issue is really nice and features the photography of Mary Ellen Mark, Louis Sinco and other great photojournalists.
Compared with my last two commentary pieces for the magazine, this article was far more challenging.
Trying to talk about the history of anything can be a lot of work, but tracking down the development of the digital camera in photojournalism was quite an exercise in humility.
Actually, the idea for the article came from research I did during my dissertation. When I first sent my article to Dirck, it was still very long and ponderous. After a few edits, however, the writing began to flow a bit more. I wouldn't say this is my best or most creative effort to date, but it's a fairly significant piece in that the writing reflects ongoing changes in the industry.
