Toward sunset a late season winter storm passes through the Siskiyous. There is always something magical about the light near the end of the day, especially when the weather turns dramatic. Time seems to stand still as the light shifts from white to amber. Snow along the Oregon-California is pretty rare this time of the year, and although beautiful, I think about all the fruit trees that may suffer from a freeze.
We are almost finished this term's photojournalism class. Our last demonstration was an improvized studio setup in the library. Here, Sarah, Annie and Julie take turns making portraits. Below, Jerry downloads images to show on the big screen as the group works. Using digital technology is a terrific way to teach and learn about lighting and working with portraits. Everything we do can be critiqued just after capture.
