My High School Life: A photo essay by Kara Lewis

A 19-year-old student, Kara Lewis, just graduated from Southern Oregon University with a degree in photojournalism. Kara quit high school at 16, passed the GED, and entered university. Kara was also diagnosed with Graves Disease, a type of autoimmune disease that causes over-activity of the thyroid gland.View the Slideshow

As her final project, kara returned to Ashland High School to document life and to see what she had been missing by leaving so early.

I think Kara's personality comes out nicely in the interview I did with her to accompany this slideshow. She is a determined soul passionate about photojournalism and humanity.
