Journalists and media organizations are eligible for the International Journalism Awards 2007. The contest is sponsored by the International Catholic Union of the Press. Deadline is January 31.
A total of eight awards will honor the work of individuals and institutions. The awards include the “Gold Medal”, awarded for a report that promotes press freedom and the”Titus brandsma” award, presented to a journalist who has suffered persecution.
The other award categories are: photojournalism, inter-religious dialogue, women issues, communications education, excellence in journalism, and solidarity with refugees. The prize money ranges from CHF 1,000 (about US$823) to CHF 3,000.
