We come to a place of knowing the world around us through observation and reflection. Pictures invite themselves into our consciousness as small gifts which we fix in time and space. How we understand what we see as a gift to be shared is largely dependent on our willingness to accept people as they are in the light of their experiences in the world.
We have discussed the concept of intimacy as a way of tapping into human emotions and feelings. Eva's picture of a woman resting shows her capacity to see others as real people in real time. Ultimately, this is what photojournalists do best.
