There's an interesting and somewhat troubling article in the Washington Post today about how highly qualified law students are losing out on jobs because of derogatory chats and posts on the Internet. Ellen Nakashima reports, "The students' tales reflect the pitfalls of popular social-networking sites and highlight how social and technological changes lead to new clashes between free speech and privacy."
This becomes important for all prospective job seekers as employers turn to the Internet for more details on potential candidates. For example, even if you present a portfolio of your best photography to a client or future employer, a post on MySpace or a less than perfect picture on Flickr may send the wrong message.
